Global comparable-store sales — at locations open for at least a year — rose 5%. In the US, they jumped 5.7% thanks to all-day breakfast, beating the forecast for 3.2%.

Same-store sales had been expected to grow 3.2% in the US, and 3.7% internationally.

Comparable sales for the International Lead segment increased 4.2% for the quarter, led by strong performance in the U.K., Canada and Australia.
